Anna Means, PhD
Dr. Means currently focuses her research on understanding the early stages of pancreatic cancer with the goal of developing methods for earlier detection and treatment. She is presently investigating how growth factors produced by the tumor microenvironment influence initiation and progression of pancreatic cancer.
Education
In 1984, Dr. Means received a bachelor of science in Zoology from Ohio University. She received a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1991.
Postdoctoral Training and Appointments
In 1991, Dr. Means was appointed post-doctoral associate in the department of Oncology at the University of Wisconsin. From 1991 to 1999, she served as post-doctoral associate in the department of Pharmacology at Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Means joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1999 as a research associate in the division of Surgical Oncology. She was appointed assistant professor in 2004.
